If you are planning to travel to Germany, you should include Munster Germany in your plans. You’ll probably want to go to Berlin and Munich but if you take the time to travel to Munster Germany, you will enjoy the unique experience.

Though most of the old city of Munster was destroyed during World War II, there is still a lot of history here. The spires of St. Lambert’s and the charming St. Paul us Cathedral with its astronomy clock, are worthy of a few photos. Don’t miss the display of this old clock at noon every day at the Cathedral. Munster is home to many fine museums including the Pablo Picasso Museum and a museum dedicated entirely to lacquer arts.

You can visit a baroque palace from the 1700s and a 1700s country estate that will take you back in time to the Germany of old. Wander the streets of the Prinzipalmarkt, an old marketplace that is still active today. At night the marketplace glows with light and its large student population comes out in droves to enjoy the evening air.

You can visit the city fortress where the Nazis executed enemies of the state and the 1500s guild house where Germany and the Netherlands once signed a peace treaty. The Schloss, or castle in the city of Munster is like so many in German towns across the country. Today it is home to the large university but it is worth a visit all the same.

Munster Germany is situated near the river Ems and has many fine examples of old estates and country homes. The city of Munster is one of only thirteen German cities to be named one of the Historic Highlights of Germany. Its exemplary old architecture and classic German culture will make you want to stay a while. Because it is off the beaten path, you will not have to fight a lot of other tourists to enjoy the attractions and sights Munster has to offer.
